I am a teacher who has been asked to give a speech on behalf of the staff to the Year 12 students who are leaving in a couple of weeks time. I have been asked as I am also leaving the school and these kids were in my Home Group when they started at the school in Year 8.

In the past it has been a light-hearted/funny kind of speech, but still with a good graduating message. I had an idea about using scenes from movies and lines from songs that were popular in the year they were in year 8 (2004) but i’m not convinced. I really want to give them a good speech that will give them some good memories.

Anyone got any ideas??

Dear parents and teachers, Thank you for coming here today to our 6th grade graduation. Before I talk about how awesome this year has been, all of us here would like to thank the parents and the teachers for helping us make this year so memorable. The motivation of our teachers and parents has kept us all going and has made this year a successful one. Thank you parents. So back to my speech. This last week has been lots of fun. I wish every year the graduation was like this. Leaving Serrano, I feel sad because I have been at this school since kindergarten and when I look back I am leaving a place from where I learned so much. Sure I got bored a lot during math along with another 90 students but now after 7 years, I have grown attached to Serrano and it’s almost like my second home. Almost. We leave this school with many memories and for some of us many missing homework assignments. Something that I learned this year is that there is always a good side to a problem and I know that next year we will all be going to C.V. and that’s also a good school.

I don’t exactly need an actual speech. Just suggestions as to what to put in it or bits of nice comments that would be nice to put into the speech. It’s my second time being a candle and yehh. Don’t have much experience lol. She’s my godmother’s daughter but we aren’t that close. We’re more like aquaintances and not friends because we hardly see each other (she’s older than me by a year or two). So I need a speech that’s not TOO personal. Like, I can’t talk about funny moments that we’ve shared or memories. But then again don’t want to sound too impersonal and seem like I don’t give a damn. lol.
Well suggestions are very welcome & thanks in advance for those who give a ’serious’ answer !!!
