I’ve never been part of a wedding party before, and now my sister is getting married and has asked me to be her maid of honor. The wedding is still a long ways away, but I want to be prepared in advance.

-So, how long should the speech be?
-I would like to include some funny memory from when we were kids that relates to her personality now, but what else can I put in it?
-I’m not a big fan of really sappy sentimental stuff, but I also don’t want to make it funny, so what do you suggest?
-Any tips, ideas, or good websites or references would be great!

We wrote our speech and it sounds nice however I didn’t know if taking a shot before or during the speech was a bad idea. By all means it will help our nerves out but do you think it will look bad in front of the family?
