Hi,
I’m getting married to my beautiful girlfriend next month and this is the speech I’ve written so far.
Addressing the guests - “Firstly, I’d like to thank each and every single one of you for being here today. It means such a lot to have our nearest and dearest here to witness this special occasion, and the success of today has been down to you.”
Now I’m going to address family members that have made some sort of individual contribution - “Secondly, I’d like to thank the people that have made a physical contribution - ______ for providing the beautiful cake that I’m currently finding hard to resist and ______ for kitting my wife’s bridesmaids out in those beautiful dresses. Thanks a lot, much appreciated”.
“Thirdly, I’d just like to say “‘How amazing do the bridesmaids, maid of honour, best man and page boy look?”‘. You lot certainly scrub up well. Usually I’d encourage the best man to try and get off with one of the bridesmaids, but in this case DAD (he’s my best man) I wouldn’t advise you too unless you want to leave tonight with your knackers being used as earrings. Make sure he doesn’t drink too much, Mum.”
“And lastly, well, the woman I married today - doesn’t she just look incredible? I can’t quite believe my luck. I appreciate so many of you haven’t ever met Jade (my wife-to-be) before so I’ll give you a brief account of how we meet and how everything has led up to today. It was January 2008 when I first met her. We were in the seating area of a crowded nightclub, she was sitting with a couple of her work colleagues and I was supposed to be in the company of my friend, but he’d already set his eyes on a leggy blonde on the dancefloor. I just couldn’t stop gawping at how beautiful she looked - thank God she came over to speak to me. We started to talk, discussing what we did for a living, our interests and I just remember thinking “Gorgeous, funny, kind, caring, clever - no wonder she fell in love with me!”‘ (Pause for laughter). From then on, we went on several dates, fell in love with each other and I proposed to her on Christmas day 2008. I waited 29 years to find this woman and I’m so glad I waited that long. In Jade, I’ve found my soul mate and the love I have for her is so intense, so exciting and completely unconditional. If I could explain in words how I feel about this woman, I’d be here from now ’til the end of time. So, without further ado, please raise your glasses to both Jade and I.”
